Swarm of earthquakes strike San Ramon Friday night
There were six separate earthquakes in the San Ramon area on Friday night. No damage was reported, but locals were somewhat rattled by the frequency.
The largest known earthquake to hit the state, with a magnitude of 5.1, occurred in northern Shelby County in 1916, according to the Geological Survey of Alabama. The second biggest was a 4.9 magnitude earthquake in Escambia County in 1997.
A second minor earthquake has hit a Lancashire village in as many weeks, the British Geological Survey (BGS) has said. It happened earlier at 05:03 GMT with the epicentre of the 2.5 magnitude tremor located to off the coast of Silverdale, in Morecambe Bay.

On Monday morning, around 30 minor earthquakes erupted in a swarm near the Geysers geothermal field south of Clear Lake. The day before, seven quakes rattled Sonoma County, including a 4.0 quake.
